So, I left off saying we were praying for peace to stay with our OB. Like I said, the peace never came. So we began to investigate other options.
In our Bradley class there were 3 other couples. One couple was planning a homebirth with a midwife. We thought that was REALLY WEIRD! We didn't even know midwives were still around. Last we heard was one had delivered Moses! ha! I'm not kidding! Another couple was planning on a birth in a birthing center affiliated with a hospital with a nurse midwife... something else we kind of thought "strange." Then there was another couple who was "normal" like us planning a hospital birth! LOL!
Well, as we began our investigation, it brought us to a birthing center in the next town over operated by midwives (direct entry midwives... not nurse midwives). We thought we'd go take a tour & ask some questions. Well, everything we were going to have to fight for at the hospital was "standard procedure" at the birthing center! We left our tour amazed at the amount of peace we felt! We wondered if this could be our answer! Well, it was. We met the midwife who would become "our" midwife, Amy Allred.
During this process we learned that these midwives also did homebirths. Well, that was just WAY to0 crazy for us to even consider! So we planned to have Olivia at the birthing center in Grand Prairie, Texas. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh... peace!
